Preview of the Next CTPC Meeting |
February 26, 2008 - 6:30 p.m. |
You've seen numerous articles and Ads about VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) for making telephone calls over the Internet. It appears that VoIP is now a mature and interesting way to make both local and long-distance calls at a much lower cost than traditional telephone service.
On February 12. 2008 AT&T rolled out its newest service in our area called "U-Verse." So now both Cablevision and AT&T offer VoIP bundled with Internet access and television programming for about $100 per month.
AT&T's U-verse Marketing Manager Timothy O'Connor will give us a timely presentation about this new and improved service at our February 26 meeting. A number of features set U-verse apart – for example, it brings the television signal into your home over the existing copper wires. AT&T is the only national provider to offer a 100-percent Internet Protocol (IP)-based video service.
Don't miss the CTPC Tuesday, Feb 26th meeting. It's a good chance to determine if U-verse is the right approach for you. As always, we'll discuss “Picks & Pans,” try to solve “Random Access” problems and adjourn to Uncle Joe's Restaurant for a pizza dinner after the meeting.
